The tax increase rises to 9% for 2024.

02/03/2024 - Published by : FiduPress < Back The tax increase rises to 9% for 2024.

All self-employed individuals and legal entities subject to corporate tax must make advance tax payments (VAI).

For incomes of 2024, the surcharge for lack of advance payments increases to 9%.

For the fiscal year 2025, i.e. for the incomes of 2024, the penalty for insufficient advance payments is that the tax to be paid will be increased by 9%. More than ever, it is therefore essential to implement a strategy for managing advance payments. This involves paying the projected income tax in advance.

If you have to pay €1000 in tax and make no advance payments, the final debt will amount to €1090!

Advance payment deadlinereduction of the surcharge (% 2023)
10th April 202412% of the amount paid (9%)
10th July 202410% of the amount paid (7.5%)
10th October 20248% of the amount paid (6%)
20th December 20246% of the amount paid (4.5%)

How to cancel this tax surcharge?

For example, if you have a tax bill of €1000 and make an advance payment of €750 before 10th April, you will not be subject to a tax surcharge.

9% of €1000 = €90 --> Tax surcharge to pay.

12% of €750 = €90 --> reduction of the tax surcharge.

From a tax perspective, it is therefore optimal to make a first advance payment before 10th April 2024. It may even be useful, if you do not have sufficient cash flow, to contact your bank, which has financial products suitable for this situation.
